On Saturday mornings from 8:00 to noon we have worked on Habitat houses near Lakeland Regional Hospital.  There are 20 homes being built, and they need volunteers to paint, dig ditches, put up drywall, roof, etc.  Stay tuned for our next workday.  Meet at FPC at 8AM to carpool to the site.  Call Nancy Bertram 686-7187 ext 248 for more information.

Parker Street

Parker Street Ministries

Every Christmas we participate in the annual Christmas store distributing toys and meals to the children and parents in this neighborhood.  This winter and spring, 2012, we will also be working  in the neighborhood clean-up and repair. We welcome all volunteers for these Saturday projects.  Call Don Hubbard for more details.

  Wabash Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution

 Mission Zion Hope

We will be distributing turkeys and food boxes on Saturday morning at Zion Hope Baptist Church, 504 Plateau Av. in the Wabash Area on November 17, 2012.  It is a day for Thanksgiving turkey distributions, games for children, and a cookout for the whole family.  Last year we distributed and fed over 250 people from the community.  It was a fun morning, and we look forward to continuing our partnership this year.

 Gleaning Network

Mission Gleaning

One major area of food waste in America is in farmers' fields where the crops that don't meet top-grade quality are left to rot or be plowed under. The Gleaning Network coordinates with volunteers and growers to salvage food for the needy. Gleaners are people of all ages who would like to help. Contact Margie Lewis or call 863-644-5822 for more information.

Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoe Boxes - Nov. 17-19, 2012

FPC once again will be the relay center for the shoe boxes in Polk County.  This past year we collected almost 5000 boxes from many churches, organizations and individuals in our county.   Operation Christmas Child, the unique international project of Samaritan’s Purse, has delivered more than 85 million gift-filled shoe boxes to needy boys and girls in 138 countries worldwide since 1993.  We want to say a big THANK YOU to all who helped us collect and donate these wonderful shoe boxes.  Contact Margie Lewis for more details.
