PRAYER MINISTRY

FINE ARTS 

Participants in the Fine Arts program are volunteers. If you or your children are interested in: choir, handbells, drama, dance, or if you are a musician please contact our Fine Arts Department to inquire about how you can participate in future FPC Worship Services. Fine Arts volunteers serve as a family of believers bringing glory to God through music and motion. By giving back to God through our talents we strive to know God and share His grace with others. Contact the Director of Fine Arts, Dan Gordon at (863) 686-7187 ext 239.

 

BAG LADIES 

This group of volunteers clean, decorate and distribute suitcases to foster children through Heartland for Children. The suitcases give the foster children something of their own to take from place to place and are deeply appreciated. If you would like to participate in this ministry or observe please contact M.J. Mitchell, (863) 683-4589.

 

CARE TEAMS

If you have some spare time and transportation you can serve as part of the care team. These acts of kindness are coordinated by Jackie Hansen to provide meals and, when possible, even transportation to medical appointments. KITCHEN

Our Wednesday night dinners are served by a rotating team of volunteers each week. We start at 4:45pm with clean up finishing by 6:30 p.m. If you would like to help serve please contact Elena Nicholas at .org';h483034454='fpclakeland.org';document.write('' + linktext + '');

 

COOKS CARE

This group prepares meals in our kitchen to be frozen to send home with families in the church who are ill, have been in the hospital or have a new baby and in need of a home cooked meal. To participate in this ministry, contact Pastor Cecelia Moore (863) 686-7187 ext 233,   

 

FLOWER POWER

Members of this group break down and distribute flowers left after funerals either throughout the church to beautify the church or to take to nursing homes. Contact Cathy Gilbert, 665-6221, if you are interested in serving in this ministry.

 

OLDER ADULTS

If you have a heart for serving the older folks within the church check out the older adult ministry. This group is active and often need help with regular gatherings, expanded day trips, social outings, extended group travel, nature hikes, and lunch cruises.  Form more information Contact Judy Kemp at (863) 686-7187 or 

 

HEAVEN HELP US

An organization of volunteers who are active in helping elderly, low-income, or disabled parishioners with repairs to their homes. If you are interested in serving God with your talent for fixing things please contact Pastor Cecelia Moore at (863) 686-7187 x233 or  

LAKELAND AREA MEN'S PRAYER BREAKFAST

A group of men who meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month for breakfast, prayer, motivational speakers, and fellowship. If you are a man and would like to serve along side other men cooking, cleaning, teaching, or coordinating this event please contact Wyllys Taylor, (863) 686-9957 or 

 

MISSIONS

Both local and global missions is a big part of FPC. You can participate in many areas from bell ringers at Christmas to building houses and schools in Haiti, Kenya, and the Dominion Republic. Contact Nancy Bertram at  

PEDAL POWER

This ministry repairs and donates bicycles to children and adults who otherwise would not be able to afford one. This groups meets the third Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. to work on bikes. Volunteers are always welcome. Contact is Ted Hogan at    

 

PRAYER SHAWLS

Women in our church are knitting and crocheting prayer shawls to be given to people who are going through some kind of difficult situation in their lives. The recipient is prayed for as the shawl is made. When the person wraps the shawl around themselves they will feel comforted, loved and encouraged to pray themselves. This is a way for us to witness that we believe that prayer makes a difference. STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who provide one-to-one caring ministry to people experiencing grief, divorce, loneliness, job loss, hospitalization, and many other life difficulties. Stephen Ministers are trained to do an excellent job as well as to improve the quality of all relationships. Once trained, Stephen Ministers are matched with people who are going through stressful times or life difficulty. VISITATION TEAMS

Whether early in the morning prior to surgery or during rehabilitation in Nursing Homes, our team is ready to visit. If you would like more information about becoming part of the visitation team please contact Pastor Cecelia Moore, (863) 686-7187 ext 233,

 

CARE NOTES

Booklets offering pastoral insight and inspiration are placed in convenient and visible locations around the church building. These are coordinated by Mrs. Marge Boyer. If you would like to help Marge she can be contacted through the church office, 686-1787.

 

HEARING ASSISTANCE

Devices for worship services are provided and serviced by Bob Reed (863) 701-7295, and, through the Memorial Committee, inoperable ones are replaced with new units. Volunteers are needed to help with this vital service provided to our hearing impaired.

 

BLOOD BANK

Blood Drives are held throughout the year. The BloodNet bus comes to FPC on Sunday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers help with registration. If you would like to serve, please contact Ms. Isabel Cumming, 646-5768.
