Older Adults Ministry
Spirit of Service (S.O.S) Gathering and Lunch
Join us on Friday, October 7, 2011, in room 316. We begin with fellowship, coffee and conversation at 9:45 a.m. followed by our program. Our speaker will be Elaine Thompson, CEO of Lakeland Regional Medical Center who will up date us on Medicare, Medicaid and YOU! This is a timely topic and Ms. Thompson is well versed in all the most recent changes. There will be time for questions.
Lunch ($5) is at noon and reservations are required by October 4. Call the church office, 686-7187, to make your S.O.S. Lunch reservation.
Spirit of Service (SOS) is open to all adults over 55 and we encourage everyone over this age younger to come and share in our program and fellowship. Our present service project is collecting monies for another well for the Shallow Well Project in Malawi. We feel SOS is a good way to have your mind and soul refreshed while enjoying a great lunch and delightful conversation.

Adult Ministries is aimed at reaching adults over the age of 50 with programs and activities that engage the mind and the body. Our senior members have for many years enjoyed our Spirit of Service (S.O.S.) ministry.
S.O.S was organized to amplify the “Spirit of Service” for older adults. The format for this program has been to enjoy a variety of subjects at a morning meeting on the second Friday of each month from October through May, followed by lunch. The programs feature speakers on a wide range of topics. Of course, some of the programs feature a light format, and offer a change of pace with presentations by some of our youth groups.
Another side of our Adult Ministries is for the more active over 50 members. “Fun ‘n Fellowship” was created to offer expanded day trips, social outings, extended group travel, and nature hikes. Check the calendar for upcoming “Fun ‘n Fellowship” events.
