The American Boychoir, under the musical leadership of Litton-Lodal Music Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, will present a concert on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, at 7:30 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church presents Schubert's "Mass in G" on February 22, 2009 at 3:30 pm, in the Sanctuary.
FPC Chancel Choir performs the most beloved works in the classical repertoire, in a concert that will also include Schubert’s famous, Shepherd on the Rock, and his Tov lehodos (Come, give thanks), written to dedicate the synagogue in Vienna. Music for string orchestra and piano selections add variety to this concert of music by one of the world’s great melody writers. more >

First Presbyterian Church presents "Amahl and the Night Visitors," on December 13 & 14, at 7:30 pm.
FPC launches a fully staged production of this heart warming and dramatic Christmas opera. First commissioned by NBC television, Amahl has blessed audiences since 1955. Great singing, great dancing and a cast that includes Mary Grace Gordon as the mother, Harry Pettit as King Kasper, Harrison School of the Performing Arts faculty, Chad Brady, as King Balthazar, and Rachel Castor as the crippled boy, Amahl. This production will also feature the FPC Sinfonetta providing the full orchestral accompaniment and David Campbell at the piano. more >

HIS Company, the Drama Ministry of First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, will offer to the community its production of All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten. This very funny and touching true-to-life comedy/drama is based on the writings of Robert Fulghum and was adapted for the stage by Ernest Zulia and David Caldwell. Cast members include Tracie Carley, Penny Parker, Ann Stockton; J. Lenora Bresler, John Durbin, Bob Macey, and Daryl Ward. With such an immensely talented group of actors as this, the show is sure to provide an entertaining evening spent in much laughter and reflection. more >

First Presbyterian Church presents a special recital to benefit the FPC piano fund, featuring Dr. Howard Kim, assistant professor at Southeastern University.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Howard Kim has been performing publicly since the age of eight. His teachers include Dorothy Hwang, Antoinette Perry, Aube Tzerko, and Rebecca Penneys. While completing the doctoral program at the Eastman School of Music, he was awarded the Performer's Certificate. more >
Classical Concert - Haydn's "Little Organ Mass"Nov 5, 2006 @ 4:00 pm
First Presbyterian Church presents a Classical Concert on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. The FPC choirs will perform with organist, David Campbell, in Haydn's "Little Organ Mass." A string orchestra will accompany Mr. Campbell while the FPC organ is featured in Mozart's "Church Sonata for Organ."
Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) received intensive musical training as a chorister at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. He was dismissed from the choir when his voice changed, and supported himself precariously with odd jobs and teaching. He furthered his musical training by a rigorous program of self-instruction, gradually making himself known to influential persons in Vienna. more >

Belle Chantique of Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, FL, will be performing Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols," conducted by Mr. Tucker Biddlecombe. The concert will feature the Festival Ringers of FPC.
This advanced women's ensemble is by audition only, and performs numerous concerts throughout the school year. Students learn advanced vocal techniques, advanced repertoire, and strive for excellence in performance. This ensemble often performs outside of school for workshops, clinics, and concerts. Belle Chantique has been invited to perform at the 2006 Florida ACDA convention at Rollins College in Orlando. more >

The American Boychoir’s rich sonorities, musical sophistication, expressive power and innovative programming have established its reputation as the United States ’ premier concert boys’ choir and one of the finest boychoirs in the world. Its members – boys in grades 5 through 8 – come from around the country to pursue a rigorous academic and musical curriculum at The American Boychoir School, the only non-sectarian residential boys’ choir school in the country.
The student body reflects the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the United States , and graduates are eagerly sought by the finest boarding schools or are frequently placed in advanced courses in hometown public schools. The School offers rolling admissions throughout the year and holds auditions for interested boys after each concert.
Founded in Columbus , Ohio in 1937, The American Boychoir has been located in Princeton , New Jersey since 1950. more > |
